Emerging from darkness

A couple of doctors asked us to carry out a comprehensive renovation of a 1970s flat that had not undergone any changes until now.

The flat is on the eighth floor of a building. It is a corner flat with a large façade and plenty of light. However, upon entering, it feels like an old, dark flat. When we arrived, we discovered a fragmented space; the light stayed in the rooms but did not reach the more public areas of the flat, the hallways, or the entrance hall.

From there, the strategy focused on removing barriers to light and designing an irregularly shaped central element that adds personality and establishes a more natural and fluid relationship between the spaces. Now light penetrates, bathing the microcement-coated central core and inviting you to explore the entire flat around it.
